So I guess it's an improvement that I now get more DMs from dubious book reviewers thinking I need to pay for reviews than from dubious fake men/women thinking I need to pay for love? #WritingCommmunity

A great thing about writing fiction: you can work through your biggest struggles and losses--you can tell all your deepest secrets--you can describe in great detail how someone did you wrong --and when you swirl it together with a bunch of made up stuff, no one ever knows.

Am reading GLASS CABIN by Tina Mozelle Braziel and James Braziel and when I'm on this site I think of these lines about turning turtles upside down. Some people go out of their way to hate and hurt, and we see them plenty here. Here's to those who stop and set the turtle on its feet

During the summers my grandmother and I would watch Days of Our Lives and eat tomato sandwiches and chips. It was a BIG day if she pulled this out of the fridge as a special treat. And all these decades later I still feel like I’m opening a jar of caviar when I pop it open.😏

I underline and heart and jot notes all over every book I read—if you see a section without scribbles all over it, it means a dog curled up next to me and I couldn’t make myself disturb him to go grab a pen.

I wonder if having first dates at restaurants became a thing, evolutionarily speaking, because you shouldn't decide to mate with someone until you know they treat wait staff.

My morning coffee read—after finishing the possibly perfect TELL ME EVERYTHING by Elizabeth Strout—is the latest by Kate Christensen . She never disappoints. I’m already hooked…and also the cover beautifully matches my dog and rug?

Had a bunch of quilts fall out of the closet like Jenga blocks--some are these are over a hundred years old. They were made by my great-grandmother, Alma Tesney Webb, her sisters--Eula and Etta--and my great-aunts, Clara and Dot. I knew all of them, and here they are still. ❤️

A beautiful passage about how books move us towards each other from Leif Enger's introduction to PEACE LIKE A RIVER. Seems like the right vibe for a Sunday morning.❤️
