Finished cleaning inside windows & rehung curtains. Sorted food arrangements for #AldeburghFestival visitors, had gentle afternoon. Fun & nostalgia Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall #ImaginetheBeatles. Took me back to 1961 incl lots of times in the Cavern though #TheBeatles had moved on by then🤩
Making progress on virtual #LEtoJoG walk. Am now 'on' #CotswoldWay between Old Sodbury and Cam, over 190 miles further north than on last report. Waved to Gill Parker & #Martin on way through Taunton🙃! Plodding on...
Morning volunteer shift The Red House, Aldeburgh Drawing Room + led an upstairs walk through. One of the visitors had BB’s signature on Red House stationery, sent to his dad - being followed up. Afternoon on personal admin, emails, filing. Heavy rain - all the gardeners will be delighted☔️
Walked into town for nails with the amazing #Anita whose patience & skill never cease to amaze me. Collected clothes bought on Friday. Trip to Waitrose & Partners for ‘a few bits’ - came home with a bootful. Excited to find the only yoghurt that #IanS can eat. I live a v sheltered life🤣🥰
Up early, baking before 7. Late to The Red House, Aldeburgh gardening - it was v. ☔️☔️- but went once it stopped - arrived with Madeira cake just in time for a break! Did a lot of sawing - old hedge coming out has to be ‘chipper ready’. Afternoon ironing + walked the site to get some air.
Volunteer morning at The Red House, Aldeburgh. Was in entrance hall & drawing room + led upstairs tour. Steady stream of visitors - all ages & from all over the country. So enjoyed #FaceTime catch up Sue Barsky Reid. Pre-supper walk to the beach - tide going out, Scallop looking magnificent🤩.
Early morning walk. Lunchtime concert in Orford Church. Really enjoyed performance by #TrioFarben Britten Pears Arts residency. Orford looking charming as ever - nipped into Jodie Pinney for some treats. Walked boardwalk Snape Maltings to see new plank🥰👍. Updated digital diary🥱
V disappointing Suffolk Garden Show. Half a shift The Red House, Aldeburgh - not needed in the end. Ate two suppers tonight - made mine early as I’d not had lunch, then had a call reminding me that Quiz Night at the Yacht Club was tonight not tomorrow - oops! I was useless but it was fun.
Morning shift The Red House, Aldeburgh. Was in Drawing Room, Entrance Hall + led upstairs walk through. Visitors were great and really enjoying the house. Quiet afternoon - I was out for the count - had a nap - that doesn’t happen v often! Watched lots of old Annika - v entertaining. Now😴
Planned gentle get up & long walk today but sugar low after breakfast - rethink needed. Managed a short walk, listened to book Audible UK 🎧, dozed. Enjoyed quiz night - wasn’t expecting to but finding Chess Masters v. interesting. Sorry to see Warwick go out of University Challenge
Inspirational & enlightening presentation & discussion this morning about Britten Pears Arts engagement with prisoners in two local establishments. Fascinating to hear the views of prisoners (recorded, of course!), and some of the music they have developed. Afternoon stroll into town.
V enjoyable & purposeful meeting Snape Maltings #JonGay this a.m. Walked boardwalk, said hello to T - yartzheit today - 3 years. Lovely lunchtime chat with tigers.carole - proper catch up. Bit of gardening & short walk, late lunch/early supper, 👍 #Facetime with Sue Barsky Reid🍷🍷🥰
Enjoyed early morning circular walk along Crag Path to town, along river wall, Jubilee Walk & permissive path. Afternoon The Red House, Aldeburgh - volunteer shift in the Library, Entrance Hall + leading upstairs walk through with a lovely group of visitors. Evening with Inspector Linley🤩
Day full of domesticity. Trip to Waitrose & Partners Saxmundham - how come it’s always £100😱even when there isn’t much on the list🤩? Exciting afternoon doing laundry & other chores😁. Delicious evening meal & lovely conversation with #MarkandSusan + a lift home - 1st ride in a Tesla. 😴.
A.m. The Red House, Aldeburgh, library, entrance, upstairs tour. More v interesting & interested visitors. Cooked vegetable soup with what was in fridge, roasted rhubarb with stem ginger, had a little doze🥰. Watered, deadheaded petunias, swept verandah. Liverpool won the Premiership🤩😁🥂
Steady get up, glorious morning. Walked permissive path, marshes, coast. Picked up £30 won on Saturday lottery🤩. Lots of birdsong all around. Gave myself a facial, breakfast at lunchtime. Lovely chat with Peter Bracey #Helen. Put rest of garden furniture on veranda & washed it.
Gardening The Red House, Aldeburgh. Great working with Kirsty, planting replacement hedge & watering in. Was whacked when we finished at 1 o’clock - must be getting old! Made chicken soup in pressure cooker, caught up on puzzles, sorted out ISA that matured today. Evening with Insp Lynley.
Shadowed full house tour The Red House, Aldeburgh - always good to learn from other volunteers. Ace session in archive, fascinating artefacts related to War Requiem. Thank you Christopher Hilton. Good results on #Connections #Wordle. Gentle afternoon, watched Ronnie O’Sullivan weave his magic.💤.
