Bad idea: I am thinking about writing a backend for #fullcalendar. I am not even sure if it makes sense 🐌 #building #opensource

This post is about an epiphany I recently had talking with one of my colleagues. In practice my mood switched from: “I am going to ask people that I think should have answers and if they don’t replay it means that they don’t care so why should I?”. To... shippingbytes.com/2024/08/06/my-…

Since running everything in a single server looks cool now I just want to point out that I run: * wordpress * mysql * api that empowers a mobile app * a svelte admin * postgres * grafana, prom, collectors From 5EUR droplet 💥

This is what I mean when I tell people “I don’t get hired to teach you how to be a big company. I get hired to remind you to operate like a startup.” Yes, I hire talented leaders and strong managers. But I also: - Read all the product docs, comment on all the designs - Review

Well, ok. But we can't assume the provider that is not "cloud" but still a provider for your single server will never have an outage. Or the telco that runs the cable will never have an outage. I mean... I see the point, but it looks to simple to be accurate

At this point we all know that #monitoring is complicated. But what happens in the meantime? Well for me, it is just a lot of #uptimekuma shippingbytes.com/2024/09/03/thi… #dev #blog

At Rockfish, we have a public API written in Go and a fraction in Rust because of data fusion. Dude the compiling experience and by consequence the dev ergonomics is totally different. Rust is so slow that feels unpleasant. Most likely a skill issue my end I am sure

I keep wasting time googling when I need to interact with #Arrow and its friends IPC, parquet with #golang . The articles often refer to wrappers of the native. I started to take notes about snippets I am using here and there with native lib shippingbytes.com/2024/09/10/apa…

I find myself connecting to libra IRC sometime hoping for the channel I am looking for to be active. I know there is a discord, or slack available for that, but it used to be a lot better imho!

Yep! #datafusion is one of those technologies that I think you should try because it is very flexible and probably you will be able to use it at some point shippingbytes.com/2024/09/26/apa… #rust
