I have officially become my grandmother. Get up. Eat breakfast. Talk about what I’m eatin for lunch. Nap. Get up. Eat lunch. Talk about what I’m eatin for dinner. Nap. Get up and eat dinner. Talk about what I wish we had for dessert. Go to bed.

I miss school so much that today I sat my cat and dog down together to talk about bullying and how they need to get along and came up with a plan of action for them to do better tomorrow.

Omg-I’m so tired of this kid in my class. Mouths off all the time. Never does his work. I’m checking his address to make sure he lives in this district. If not, he is gone! I hate homeschooling.

Does anyone else get really excited Sunday morning thinking about the 2 hour nap you’re going to take in the afternoon?

These times have made me realize that I like and appreciate the parents that drove me crazy more than I thought. And that I miss the ornery kids who took up half my days just as much as the others, maybe even more!! Perspective is a good thing.

It’s incomprehensible that we are making many concessions in education but there are some making no changes in expectations for teachers, with some even adding to their workload. This is creating a more stressful situation by ignoring teacher anxiety and exhaustion. Lighten up!

We have to be careful that our own opinions about how to move forward in this time of stress does not cause irreparable damage to our relationships. Take time to try to understand the opinions of others, even when you disagree.

When seeing educators doing amazing things online-sometimes rather than celebrate their success we get wrapped up in professional jealousy (PJ). PJ is a real thing and it drags you down & stresses you out. Guard your heart. Celebrate the talents of others, as well as your own.

Nothing makes me more irritated than when a parent uses social media to air their complaints and concerns....well, except when an educator does it. Social media is not a place for you to blast your colleagues, admin or parents. If you have a problem, go directly to that person.

During teacher appreciation week, educators often forget they are parents too-if you have children make sure you email your colleagues who have been a part of their lives-You might be the only parent who sends an email to them (& include PE, art, counselors, coaches, nurses etc).

I don’t know what will happen this fall when schools across the US should be opening, but I do know that worrying about it will not change anything. Try your best to enjoy your summer break when it comes and focus on your mental health.

Laying here wide awake wondering who closes the bus door after the driver gets off.....

We are going virtual for the beginning of school. Saw it coming. Doesn’t make it any easier. Sick to my stomach for our working parents. Stressed for our teachers. Worried about our students. Don’t have the answers. “When you won’t move the mountain I’m needing you to move....”

I’m thankful for a conscious that makes me feel guilty for things I do wrong: running a red light, eating grapes at the grocery, being rude to someone....but feeling guilty for taking a morning nap AND an afternoon nap - well that just stinks.

YOU can change the climate and culture of your grade level, your department, your coaching staff, your school. If you are waiting for someone else to change it, you could be waiting forever.
