This George The Poet 🇺🇬 interview on Novara is top tier man.

The sheer exhaustion on his face when he's asked about the west's project of murdering Black radical leaders is something I feel constantly

In 2018, @georgethepoet wrote a love poem for the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. We spoke about the writing process and why Lauryn Hill’s Nothing Even Matters was a starting point for him. Listen here: blackprosepod.com

But the fundamental thing here is that writers need to be readers. It’s our fuel.

Unlearn. Glean new ideas. Expand your vocabulary. Be challenged. Find your bearings.

What’s your reading type? And what are you currently reading? I’d love some recommendations.

Before the interview, @georgethepoet asked me about my reading habits. We spoke about why he tries to read multiple books at a time, because there’s just so much to learn. Meanwhile, I’m more of a one-book-in-one-book-out kinda gal.

lol I’ve got the same criticisms for drake. But with Kendrick it’s worse cos Mr Morale is not a stepper where it matters.

I hear it but Kendrick has chosen not to follow what people want. As someone claiming “it’s big me” he’s acknowledging that his role in this thing is different to everyone else’s. But if that difference isn’t about moral leadership then what is it about?

What bothered me most about the hype over Kendrick’s verse is how everyone acted like he really did something. It’s been a minute now and I still don’t get it.

How can you pose as an aggressor who stands on business yet u have no words for Gaza? Weak.

I get that celebs are scared to address Gaza & many don’t feel qualified to talk about serious issues, but there’s literally no excuse for Kendrick. He’s made a name off the struggle, he’s smart enough to read & rich enough to take a risk. But instead….“it’s big me”

Rap fans losing their minds over that Kendrick verse while he has had nothing to say about the genocide - or ANYTHING other than personal issues - is a sign of where the music is today.

If Mr Morale himself doesn’t even have heart like that…are we accepting that rap is a joke?

This is insane. The aid workers were killed by a British-made drone. Add that to all the evidence Matt Kennard and Declassified UK have uncovered of the UK supporting the IDF through their Cyprus base x.com/kennardmatt/st…

Undeniable. By supporting this genocide, elites and media have given a new generation every reason to reject the colonial world order.
