One of my absolute favorite details in Godzilla Minus One is that his atomic breath is so violent and powerful that it burns his body and face to even use it. Sure, he can heal himself pretty quickly, but it speaks volumes about how this incarnation of the character operates.

Jacob Ethington Saw elsewhere how the spines popping out are akin to control rods rising in a reactor, and intentional parallel or not, that made the imagery & mechanics of G:MO’s atomic breath even more compelling
