Today at Nora Patterson Park, our Emergency Response Team trained with SarasotaSheriff on a real-world scenario from last year’s hurricanes, when someone jumped into the water after bridges closed. No one was hurt then. Monthly training builds skills for high-pressure calls.

One year ago, today, Sarasota faced impacts from Hurricane Helene, despite passing by more than 100 miles away. City crews from Public Works, @sarasotapd, Utilities, and Parks & Rec jumped into action to clear roadways, begin damage assessments, and address safety concerns.

Wild it’s been a year. Oct. 9, marks one year since landfall of Hurricane Milton. Cat. 3 hurricane made landfall in Siesta Key, just 13 days after Hurricane Helene, and was the first storm to make landfall in Sarasota County since 1944. So proud of the work of Sarasota County Government.
