Originally the Corporation Pier at Hull, it's name was changed to the Victoria Pier at the time of a visit by the monarch in 1854. The pier was used for the New Holland ferry service, together with services to Barrow Haven and Barton-upon-Humber.

Eighty-five years old today, the remarkable playwright and director Sir Alan Ayckbourn is forever linked with the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough where he was the Artistic Director and where the majority of his work has been premiered. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…
