Impressed at finally a real plant pangenome. And a great set of resources. Almost makes me want to do soybean popgen. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

1/2) New preprint from the lab (biorxiv.org/content/10.110…). A talented Ph.D. student, Zhikai, used the genome-wide mediation analysis to identify hundreds of mediating genes to connect genotype to phenotype.

Thrilled to share our recent work posted on bioRxiv (biorxiv.org/content/10.110…) that Gen Xu and collaborators have been working on for years. Thanks UNL PSI NE CRRI Nebraska EPSCoR Briefly, we found an nitrogen-associated locus under balancing selection. 1/2

Very happy to share a wonderful collaboration with colleagues in Beijing, Wuhan and Germany on identification of a previously undescribed WD40 gene as a QTL for grain number and yield in maize. The same gene was also selected in rice science.org/doi/10.1126/sc….

Our mediation analysis paper led by talented student zhikai is out! Mediation analysis is complementary to #GWAS, #TWAS, and #eQTL. It assumes a causal chain: SNP -> intermediate phenotype -> phenotype. full-access via lab website (jyanglab.com/pub/). UNL PSI NE CRRI

Our latest study led by Nebraska Agronomy and Horticulture grad student Semra spalalidelen and our super postdoc Gen Xu estimated the genetic parameters for nitrogen-related traits. And found that N-response to yield is highly polygenetic and likely under selection. NE CRRI doi.org/10.1101/2022.0…

One of the largest scale maize genotyping projects ever attempted in the public sector: 46 million SNPs and InDels scored across more than 1,500 maize inbreds, traditional varieties, and wild relatives from six continents. Out now in The Plant Journal. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/tp…
