FIA you are killing the sport. Please fix the mistake. This was not an innocent error from a rookie race director, it was manipulation

The real question is not why was Lando Norris' lap time reinstated, but why was it deleted in the first place.

The stewards correctly didn't delete Max Verstappen's lap subsequent to his off-track excursion at turn 16 earlier on but got the same call wrong moments later.

Tam ⁴ If the stewards would do their job properly we wouldn't be having this conversation,which I think is the big issue.Hypothetically: what if hamilton was on a faster lap than lando and the team tells him to abort and not risk it because lando's time was deleted and then reinstated?

So the only issue is the wrongful deletion, which effectively hid the lap time for anyone making the decision whether to continue a hot lap or back off?

The stewards should be aware of what the rules are before the session starts.
