Figuring out something to "give up" for lent based on what makes you healthier or less dependant upon a screen is not getting you closer to Christ. Don't just move something out of your life without replacing it with something that gets you closer to Christ.

Some of us think repentance is just for “church people." Like, “Oops, I said a bad word, let me go repent real quick.” No. You think you ran too far? God’s already at the finish line. You think you fell too deep? God’s already in the pit waiting to pull you out. Yet. Even.

Feeling bad isn’t repentance.

We don’t actually want to stop sinning—we just don’t want to deal with the consequences. We don’t actually want God to change our hearts—we just want Him to make us feel better. We don’t actually want transformation—we just want relief. Stop stalling. Stop pretending.

Delayed obedience is still disobedience.

We want resurrection without crucifixion. We want the crown without the cross. We want the benefits of the Kingdom without surrendering our own kingdom.

Sometimes God’s got to pull you out of the noise so He can deal with what’s in your heart. You can’t hear God clearly when your schedule is packed and your soul is parched. You need to detox from the applause and the algorithms.
