What gives whisky its colour? The answer is very simple - it’s the barrels! Being a solvent, alcohol takes in the pigment from the barrels that the whisky is being aged in. However, it is a myth that the longer the whisky is being aged, the darker it becomes!

The strength of the whisky in the cask has direct effect on its maturation process. Higher strengths have more lactone absorption and lower strengths release more sugar – both which impact the taste.

Call us old fashioned, but we prefer our Canadian Whisky neat, simple and with no frills 😉 How do you like yours?
