I’m waiting to hear back from the ordinance’s authors, Council Members Robin Wonsley, Jason Chavez and Jamal Osman to see if they support this postponement.
Three other council members joined Mayor Jacob Frey on Monday to show support for keeping the rideshare giants in Minneapolis.
Mayor Jacob Frey Council Members Robin Wonsley, Jason Chavez and Jamal Osman say they support adjusting the implementation date to July 1.
They however do not support changing the rates to “subminimum wage equivalents,” according to a statement.
Mayor Jacob Frey “We are confident that these three changes- a July 1 implementation date, data disclosure, and fare transparency- will strengthen the policy and help ensure equitable outcomes for drivers and riders,” Wonsley, Chavez and Osman said in their statement.
Mayor Jacob Frey And now news from Council Members Andrea Jenkins and Emily Koski… they will try to change the ordinance’s pay rate. It’s currently $1.40 a mile and $0.51 per minute.
The new rate that will be considered is $1.21 per mile and maintaining the per minute rate at $0.51.
