In Franklin for a meeting of the MIAA football committee. Agenda includes a 2025 playoff proposal update and an update on this year's football tournament format. We start at 10.

Football will have a new tournament director soon and will plan this year's state tournament. Scott Paine resigned the position to focus more on his duties as AD at Scituate.

MIAA Associate Director and liaison Richard Pearson says that the football state championships will most likely be during the first week of December on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Pearson says it hasn't been decided which divisions will play on which day and time at Gillette Stadium for the state championships. Says that driving time for schools and if there are programs from the same league playing back to back is considered when making those decisions.

Jay Costa says that the subcommittee between the football comm. and TMC met in March to go over ideas for the 2025 season proposal. It sounds like the proposal has not changed structurally since that meeting. Just "cleaned up language", according to Costa.

The deadline to have the 2025 season format set is March, but Costa says that he and TMC chair Shaun Hart agree that the football format should be set by December, since that is when many football programs start scheduling for next year.

Saturday's football game against St. Francis of New York has been canceled due to illness among the St. Francis players and coaches. Catholic Memorial will be credited with a win by forfeit. Our next varsity football game will be September 27 at Leominster.
