It was an honor to host the LE Division - GA DNR K-9 Officer graduation at the Governor’s Mansion this morning! Join me in congratulating the newest K-9 officers who will help safeguard our state parks and waterways for Georgians and visitors from all over the country.

Thanks to First Lady Marty Kemp and Governor Brian P. Kemp for hosting our K9 graduation yesterday and The National Wild Turkey Federation for helping fund this project!

To ensure we are prepared to handle whatever #Idalia may bring, I have declared a State of Emergency and instructed state agencies to take proper precautions for its potential impact. Continue to monitor the storm and pay careful attention to updates from trusted news sources.

Working with state and local emergency responders, we will continue to provide assistance to those in the South and Southeast part of the state and ask that all Georgians join us in praying for their families. Stay safe as the storm continues to move through.

On this solemn day, we remember those lost on 9/11 and the brave men and women who fought against terrorism in the months and years that followed. We will always honor their sacrifice and memories.

On this National Police Woman Day, we celebrate all the women in law enforcement across this state.   Georgia is a safer place because of your bravery and service, and we thank you for working hard to protect your communities.

Today we join the public safety community in mourning the loss of Corrections Officer Robert Clark. Please join us in praying for his family, loved ones, and the Georgia Department of Corrections at this time.

Today, the Dept. Of Natural Resources announced the promotion of Capt James McLaughlin to Lt Col. Lt. Col. McLaughlin will be the new Asst Dir. of the LE Division under Col England. He will oversee all field operations for the Division. Congratulations, Lt. Col McLaughlin!

Today on #NationalFirstRespondersDay, we recognize the brave and important work done every day by our firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMTs and others.   Thank you to all these everyday heroes who run towards danger to protect the lives of their fellow Georgians.

Marty and I spent time with the Metro ATL Chamber this morning to talk about the importance of public safety for our business community.   We must support our law enforcement as they protect the citizens of Georgia – it’s the right thing to do.

Today we spent time with Georgia Department of Public Safety troopers and MCCD officers, LE Division - GA DNR game wardens, and Athens-Clarke County Police Department officers to thank them.

It’s always great to see so many gifts for Clark’s Christmas Kids cover the halls of the State Capitol. Today, we packed them all up to send to Georgia’s foster children! Thank you to all our state partners and everyone who participated this year!
