Hot weather can really affect our four-legged friends! Signs of heat exhaustion include: Excessive panting/difficulty breathing, increased heart & respiratory rate, drooling, mild weakness or collapse. Other symptoms include seizures and an elevated body temp over 104 degrees.

Homes with timer managed irrigation systems use 50% more water than homes without. Runoff occurs if it’s programmed incorrectly, a sprinkler head is pointed in the wrong direction, or there's a leak. Before watering the lawn, check of the system to ensure maximum efficiency.

Grasses and weeds may become a safety issue if they get too long and overgrown. Dry grasses turn into fuel for fire and overgrown lawns can be inviting places for pests like snakes, rats and other rodents.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Spring Clean Up event! It was a huge success and helps keep our community clean. In one day, we collected 32 tons of trash and debris, including yard waste, scrap metal, tires, and hazardous chemicals.

Tumbleweeds are prevalent this time of year. City staff works hard to keep up with their removal, but if you see an area that needs attention, you can easily fill out a request for service online or call 580-338-3396.

When spring temps. rise, rattlesnakes venture outside their den in search of food & warmth. Human & pet encounters w/ rattlesnakes are more prevalent this time of yr. While enjoying local parks and trails, keep your eyes and ears open for signs of rattlesnake activity.

Get ready to make some waves! The Guymon municipal swimming pool opens Monday! The pool is open seven days a week through Labor Day.
