Final: Yankees 2, Orioles 0.

Luis Gil shoved for 6 1/3 innings, Oswaldo Cabrera snuck a two-run homer inside the foul pole and Clay Holmes recorded a five-out save.

Looks like Aaron Boone might ask Clay Holmes for a five-out save. At the very least, he is coming in with two on and one out in the eighth inning of a 2-0 game to face the top of the Orioles lineup.

Oswaldo Cabrera shoots one right down the RF line for a two-run home run off Burnes in the fifth -- for now. Orioles are asking for a review.

Luis Gil and Corbin Burnes are locked into an early pitchers' duel through four innings. Gil has struck out four and faced one over the minimum. Burnes has struck out five and faced two over the minimum.

Gerrit Cole had a “pretty heavy day” of flat-ground throwing yesterday that went well, per Boone. But still no date for getting on a mound.

Asked if the All-Star break was a more likely projection for when Cole might return, Boone said, “I wouldn’t even want to guess on that.”

Jon Berti (groin) will not play a rehab game tonight because his back locked up on him, per Boone. But they’re hoping to get him back in tomorrow.

Juan Soto on his staredown of Dean Kremer after his long HR: 'It's part of the game. We were going back and forth. He didn't like the shuffle. I bet he didn't like the homer too.'

Soto's homer landed on Eutaw Street, the Orioles say. First one to land there this year, 123rd all-time.
