Stripe rust on the flag leaf and in the head has been a feature of our tour this year. Rust in the head affecting 5-10% of grains in some crops of northern Wimmera. Tough to spray at flowering.

There are some pretty even crops around that are boggy but this barley paddocks near Minyip has the potential for 6.5 t/ha

Most growers say their crops are 2-3 weeks later maturing this season. This wheat near Walbundrie NSW was flowering last week with potential yield of 5 t/ha

Yes we found frost impact on crop between the Murray and Wagga but with the 40 random paddocks we assessed none had est frost loss greater than 10% and most under 4%. Frost has devastated some but suggest nothing like it’s reputation.
