The Class of 2029 @ GMS EAST!!!! ❤️ this HERD!

Cross country had an amazing first race of the season! 4 of our boys made the top 50 out of 174. Our girls had 5 in the top 50 including Isabel Lee who placed 6th out of 125. Go Big Red!

Congrats to our RED ELEPHANT Lucy! She won 1st place out of all middle school students Quinlan Visual Arts Center Butterfly Contest. There were over 150 students from Hall County/Gainesville City who participated. We are so PROUD that Lucy represented GMS East in the contest. 🦋

Thankful for our Parent English workshop! We had a blast with families this week and already looking forward to next week’s class! It is not too late to join! Tuesday @ 9 am or @ 5 pm (parent and student together)!

Hurricane Helene has an expected rainfall exceeding 10 inches in our area. While we believe the morning will have light flooding and will be safe for passage, we do not feel confident about the afternoon and anticipated wind late Thursday and into Friday. Be safe Big Red!

Monday, Jan 6 is TEACHER WORK DAY! Last day of Winter Break for students! However, good night to start getting back on a schedule of going to bed on time and getting up at a decent time so Tuesday isn’t so hard! Sorry, not sorry. ❤️

Maintenance & Operations has been working hard to clear campuses (a big red shoutout to that team), but to be on the safe side because we still have ice in various locations, everybody needs to be a little late to school & work tomorrow. We are a grateful Gainesville #GoBigRed

With the ground temperature at or below freezing, any precipitation tomorrow will be hazardous.  In an abundance of caution, Gainesville City School System will participate in virtual learning on January 21.  Please check with your teacher(s) regarding the expectations.

As clarification, while school buildings will be closed giving way to NO in-person learning, Wednesday is to be another virtual day for students and staff of Gainesville City Schools

It is our pleasure to announce that the winner of the Gainesville City Schools Spelling Bee is our Virginia Munn.  She won after 12 rounds of spelling and vocabulary in front of a large audience.  Congratulations Virginia!!!
