c.80% of development finance for real estate comes from international sources, according to IIP. This capital is vital to getting homes built over the coming years. This must be part of the debate on the role of international investors in the Irish housing market. #housing

Refreshing to hear an honest, analytical, balanced and cool headed view on the housing issue from ⁦Paschal Donohoe⁩ at a time when frustrations are understandably high. There is an important role for the State in many ways but the priv sector is vital too podcasts.apple.com/ie/podcast/the…

It turns out (Central Statistics Office Ireland) that 21% of new home sales in Ireland last year were to the public sector, more than double that sold to funds. So much for 'cuckoo funds' buying up the new houses from under the noses of first-time buyers.

Given the seismic changes in public spending since the pandemic, this debate is timely. Looking forward to the session. #dew2021

Really telling chart here and shows why there are often contradictions in what headline Irish economic stats tell us and what the ordinary “person on the street” feels

Great conversation earlier with the Minister. With an “embarrassment of riches” at his disposal (for the time being), there are crucial decisions to be made on what to do with it over the coming months. New sovereign wealth fund welcome, but there are huge infra. shortages too

New housing commencements reached a new post-GFC high in Ireland last year according to Goodbody Analytics new tracker out this morning. Good result in the context of the headwind of higher interest rates.

Deeply disappointed that the Programme for Government makes no commitment whatsoever to implement or even examine the Housing Commission Report. The Programme is largely just a restatement of existing commitments made in Housing for All. As the Housing Commission report 1/4
