(1/2) Earlier this week, the first ever Fusion Fest took place in London, bringing together over 400 attendees and 60 speakers to showcase the importance of fusion energy to the global economy and highlight what is needed to accelerate the commercialisation of this technology.

(2/2) The conference was hosted by The Economist Impact and speakers included Kerry McCarthy, Minister for Climate, Professor Sir Ian Chapman, Chief Executive at the UK Atomic Energy Authority and David Gann, Chair at UK Industrial Fusion Solutions.

Earlier this week, members of Bassetlaw District Council visited UK Atomic Energy Authority at Culham to explore the ground-breaking fusion energy research behind STEP Fusion , the UK’s prototype fusion power plant programme (1/2).

With STEP coming to West Burton, the visit offered a glimpse into the clean energy future – and the thousands of jobs and investment it could bring to the region. In July, the APPG will also be taking a group of Parliamentarians to Culham to see this first-hand. (2/2)

Today, the Fusion APPG, led by our Chair James Naish MP , visited Culham Campus, the UK Atomic Energy Authority headquarters and the UK’s centre for fusion research. It was great to see our world-leading R&D in action and encouraging to witness strong cross-party support for fusion

It was fantastic to see the real progress being made towards commercialising fusion energy, with Culham hosting JET, the world’s most successful fusion experiment, MAST upgrade, the UK’s national fusion experiment and RACE, a centre pioneering fusion robotics.

We were delighted to hear from UK Atomic Energy Authority, First Light Fusion and Tokamak Energy, who shared how fusion energy is driving economic growth for the UK – not only by advancing clean energy, but also through the development of spin-off technologies with wide-ranging applications.
