Developing life skills is a crucial part of the restoration process! This month, a Freedom Firm social worker hosted a class for 19 girls in their village in Madhya Pradesh. Through these classes, survivors of sex trafficking gain skills to persevere and make wise decisions.

Sonu interviewed for a job this week! Sonu was rescued on December 4th in West Bengal, and returned home to live with her parents in January. Our social workers continue to support her and recently visited Sonu and her family (pictured).

Welcome home, Aparna! Aparna was rescued in August 2015. After living in a shelter home for 5 years, she recently returned home to be with her sisters and grandmother. Aparna wants to enroll in a beautician course and learn tailoring skills at home. Let's cheer her on!

COVID lockdown inspired a survivor to start her own business! Anjali was rescued in Gadchiroli in June 2016 (rescue story freedomfirm.org/post/seven-bro…) The COVID lockdown last year created financial hardship for Anjali's family so she started her own garment business!

Located in the southern fringes of Kolkata, Behala is a major highway to other places in the city. Minors are trapped in prostitution in Behala and we are working to rescue girls in this area!

This month, Freedom Firm’s legal team will represent 5 girls and their legal cases in court! Kayla and Kiren were rescued on October 20th (freedomfirm.org/post/meet-kayla) and now, four months later, their stories will be heard. We hope justice will be served.

Kani was rescued exactly two years ago today (freedomfirm.org/post/fifteen-y…). We are still trying to keep Kani safe after her mother applied for custody. Freedom Firm filed an appeal in the Supreme Court because Kani’s home is unsafe and she is vulnerable to re-trafficking.

Bindu has a baby girl! Freedom Firm rescued Bindu from a red light area in Maharashtra on February 15th, 2018. She lived in a shelter home before returning home in September 2019 and marrying Akash. Last week they became proud parents of a baby girl!

When Anju was rescued on March 12th, the police notified authorities in her hometown. Anju’s family had been looking for her since she was kidnapped 8 years ago so when they saw Anju in the police station, they wept about the past and rejoiced about being together now.

Last Wednesday night, Freedom Firm helped rescue one major who is no longer in the brothel against her will! The police also arrested the owner of the brothel, a pimp and two customers.
