BREAKING: The UK gov't has rightly recognised that approving the Rosebank oil field without taking into account the full extent of its climate impacts was unlawful. It has conceded that argument in our & Greenpeace's legal challenge against the field. So what does that mean? 🧵

“Working-class climate politics ... would say ‘how do we build a better world for everyone?’ not ‘how do we reproduce this world just minus the emissions?’" Ep 8 is LIVE! Chris Shaw unpacks liberalism & the ways it constrains our political imagination. youtu.be/1xPwgvLX8FE?si…

🚨BREAKING: UK government to DROP legal defence of Rosebank & Jackdaw, two of the UK’s LARGEST untapped oil & gas fields 🎉 The science is clear & has been for years — we cannot extract any more fossil fuels if we want to mitigate climate breakdown. 👏#StopRosebank #StopRosebank

The worst thing that ever happened to the climate movement was 1. allowing a rich debate about how we might live to be reduced to a bleak, sterile calculation about decarbonising electricity supply and 2. assuming our enemy is fossil fuel companies, not capitalism as a whole.

The Viking development is massive and so is finally connecting Shetland to the electricity grid. The minister says though that Viking demonstrates the potential for supply chain benefit. It would be useful to knowhow many or what % of the turbines were made in Scotland.

This is what heat stress looks like. Temperatures soared to 35C at the US Open yesterday with many players struggling in the conditions. Yet the US Open Tennis continues to partner with the high-carbon industries most responsible for the warming world. 🧵 #USOpen

🚨 Sportswash alert! 🚨 The Paralympic Games symbolise the triumph of the human spirit, where athletes push the limits of the possible through sheer determination. Yet, the high-carbon sponsors of this year's games send a very different message. 🧵 #Paralympics

The evolution of industrial capitalism has successively empowered and disempowered the handloom weaver, the coal miner and the wind turbine engineer. I’ve written for The Break Down on how class struggles have moulded past and present energy transitions. break-down.org/post/james-wat…

A great message delivered by Damian Hall at the end of the Tor des Géants Tor330. Actionism at its best. Keep Ford Motor Company and other ‘oily’ companies out of our sport. #sportswashing #TorDesGeants #FordMotors #utmb #dacia Protrailrunners

Love to see this! Football Needs Our Planet is calling on WSL players to use their platforms to speak up about climate change and to help put pressure on clubs and organisations to start making the changes they need to make the game more sustainable.

Players, clubs, fans—this video is for you. You need to use your voice and turn awareness into action. We want you to feel confident speaking out on climate and nature with your teammates, fans, or club because we can heal the planet and continue football's legacy together.

Terrible leader example 👇🏼 'Gianni Infantino flew over 600,000 km on a private jet owned by Qatar in 3 years - defying the pandemic & principles of good governance to become an elite polluter, disregarding Fifa’s own commitment to fight climate change.' josimarfootball.com/2024/09/12/fly…

The closure of Grangemouth oil refinery has been described as a litmus test of Scottish and UK government commitments to a 'just transition'. Today's announcement it will close next year, and 400 jobs will go without a plan is a marker of severe failure. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
