March 19 is the Feast of St Joseph. Artists have often presented the husband of Mary as an old, feeble character, yet nothing in the Gospels suggests he was aged or infirm. Indeed his energetic response to God, his bravery and his devotion to the boy Jesus suggest the opposite.
