I’m wearing our rivals’ shirt, but that’s somewhat fitting since apparently we’re rivals on Sundays! #WeRTro

Took a break from standard curriculum to teach about 9/11. Students watched a documentary, heard a song and read a poem in response. One of their most engaged days yet, and still tied to w/r/t with narrative interview assignment for hw. #AlwaysRemember importance of 9/11

Definitely forgot to put on a belt this morning, but I guess if that’s the worst thing that happens in my room today then no harm no foul, right?

Wondering if anyone here has read this book? I’m about 50 pages through but finding it difficult to get into the story. #THSReads

Today I showed up as a greaser for Halloween—white t-shirt with rolled sleeves, slicked hair, the cowlick, jeans, etc. All this only for a student to ask if I was Elvis...we have work to do yet, friends

It’s a strange feeling to be concluding the first semester—an ending and beginning in the middle of the year. I had students do course evals today, and there were naturally positive and negative takeaways. The lesson—as always—to keep moving forward. Continual growth is the goal

A moment I’ll be holding on to for a long time: a student shared during a class discussion on identity that she’s gay and not all her family is supportive. She was brave, and honest, and my class was so kind and loving in response. I’m SO happy to see that communion in my class

Spent 15+ mins in each class talking about coronavirus—what I knew, what steps the county’s taken, answering questions students had, etc. Knowledge and information are important; our students look to us in times of confusion. I’m glad I could provide them some answers today

Quick personal plug: If you might have interest in a book I’ve co-authored about civil discourse and politics, go ahead and give Civil Discourse Reminder a follow! I write from the left, another millennial from the right, and a boomer narrates/moderates the discussions.
