This is one of the most insane things you'll see from the South African government today. And that's saying something. Theo de Jager of SAAI erased Stalin style. The price of not toeing the government line on expropriation without compensation?

Is John Steenhuisen really the best the DA can do? Parroting the ANC on terrible laws like the Exprorpriation Act – in contradiction of DA policy and his own earlier words – is bad enough. Now there's the surreal photoshopping of a govt publication to spare his blushes. WSM on @

‼️ Slum Lord Economy (LANDGRAB)‼️ The Fort Jackson land grabs have restarted today, with uniformed SAPS and Correctional Services members actively participating—not to stop the chaos, but to profit from it. This is no longer a random land invasion by the poor and destitute.

Throughout all the years of working with and fighting against illegal landgrabs it has always astounded me to see some of the cars of so-called ‘poor and destitute’ wishing for a little piece of land… even worse is sommer gou gou forking out R50 000 cash for a plot.

I’ve spent a previous decade walking into bloodied homes, comforting survivors (if there were any), and standing beside grieving families. Some farm attack scenes resemble an abattoir more than a crime scene. You don’t unsee it. You don’t forget the smell. You carry it with you.
