Radiographers are striking today and I support them. I could not do my job without them. They really are one of many groups of unsung heroes in the NHS And deserve to be paid better.

It sounds like many, many hospitals are suffering today with the strikes. I very much doubt any ED or wards are truely safe today. Good luck to everyone over the next 5 days

It strikes me (pun very much intended) that we value and pay properly people who make money and not those who care, protect and educate. There’s so much wrong in that.

Thank you so much to all our wonderful nurses who came into work to keep the patients safe from doctors trying to be nurses! We support you all whether you went on strike or not because ED wouldn’t work without you!! And you deserve more.

After a lovely thoughtful run in the sun I’ve come to realise we value access to Amazon Prime, Netflix, Sky and commercial assets in general over our Health and the people who provide it.

Here’s my payslip as a first year doctor in 2005, next to a first year doctor colleague’s in 2023. 18 years later, their take home salary is less than mine was. I lived for free in hospital accommodation and had a fraction of their student loan.

Won't lie, I'm a bit apprehensive. But pay and working conditions HAVE to improve in order to retain medical staff for the future.

Posted this on my personal Facebook page and I would encourage other Consultants/SAS/GPs to share something too. There's still very little media coverage and what does come will inevitably be skewed.

I notice the local Bristol Post has an angry headline “shoppers vent anger at 1.5hr queue to go sales shopping!” As a nation that regularly has waits to get an ambulance 10times this and the same again or more to get into ED. - I would say our priorities are screwed!!
