Huge kudos to our Tuesday volunteer team who plant and care for Rowntree Park Sensory Garden. A difficult year for growing and gardening with all the floods, plus it’s rained off a number of their sessions this year - but look at the colour now!

Fun times painting with blackberries and making the most of the rain at this morning’s Very Young Friends of Rowntree Park monthly meet up. Interactive stories and nature play and exploration for little ones. Why not join our October meet up? rowntreepark.org.uk/events/booking

Inadequate lighting in public spaces, including parks, creates barriers for teenage girls and women. This interesting report from Australia supports findings in the UK. The right type of lighting matters too. theguardian.com/australia-news…

‘How to design better cities for women and girls’ - a really valuable report from Australia. Estelle Grech travelled across Europe and the US to research - it was great to meet her along the way. churchilltrust.com.au/project/the-pe…

Inaccurate. The council do no more in Rowntree Park than Hull Road Park, or any other council ‘managed’ parks. National and local funding cuts over the years have led to the council doing less in parks. Perhaps it’s the work of our volunteers that the writer noted?
