The student debt system we have today was a reaction to campus activism of the 1960s. Same ghouls, same playbook.

When folks get their student debt canceled, the freedom radicalizes them to the truth, that debt is an immoral tool of capitalist control and education should be free. When they use debt to punish campus protesters, we will need to push back. Debt liberation 🀝 free Palestine.

An Association of Legal Aid Attys member who has been struggling to get $300,000 in Parent Plus loans cancelled finally got today. Our union debt cancellation just topped $22.5 million but I'm gonna stay mad at how U.S. Department of Education punishes Parent Plus borrowers who just wanted to support their kids.

I cannot stress this enough. If you took out student loans before 2011 and you're still paying, the IDR account adjustment is likely your last best chance to get cancellation quickly. Some folks must consolidate to qualify. The deadline is TUESDAY APRIL 30th!

Excellent 🧡on consolidating your loans for the IDR account adjustment. TLDR: you will either get total debt cancellation or you will know exactly how many months left you have to get there. This is information borrowers have NEVER had ever because U.S. Department of Education never tracked it. ⬇️

Jane Fox πŸŸ₯ Public Defenseless Podcast Education Debt Consumer Assistance Program (EDCAP) Student aid site keeps telling me to consolidate b/c I have a Perkins & listing my 2 consolidation loans (with balances) alongside all the underlying loans (w/out balances). The Perkins loan has 0 balance. What does that mean? Everything w/a balance was consolidated in 2010.

Jane Fox πŸŸ₯ Here are the loans that I believe were already consolidated in 2010, including the Perkins loan that is referenced in the message above.
