Although they’re Africa’s smallest felines, black footed cats are reputed to be the most successful hunters of all cats! Because of their fierce hunting style and habit of resting on large termite mounds, their Afrikaans name is “miershooptier” which means “anthill tiger”.

In 1962, we launched Operation Oryx. This project focused on saving the Arabian oryx, which was at real risk of becoming extinct. We knew we had to act fast to save this desert antelope. discoverwildlife.com/animal-facts/m…

Roan antelope have a female-dominant hierarchy, even when a male is present. The oldest females have the highest rank, and all female calves born to a herd will usually stay with that herd for life! These little ladies have already mastered their power stance 😎

Sable are another matriarchal antelope species! The females, right, have a chocolate brown coat, while the males have the dark black fur that gives the species its name

speaking of herd dynamics- although zebra are a social species, they're also quite temperamental and assert dominance through fighting, biting and other displays

Remember the old song, "oh give me a home, where the buffalo roam?" well, that's called Africa. Believe it or not, North America has no native buffalo! What you're thinking of are bison!

Bison have lived in North America for around 400,000 years! Over that time they have shaped landscapes with their movements and grazing, fed generations of people and looked great doing it😎

Baby Luna is growing fast! Here you can see her spots begin to gain color and definition, something that will help care staff identify her within the herd
