Fortrose Golf Links next. A double green, a routing of 18 fine holes through a tiny peninsular that never feels crowded, with an ever-present wind. Even in the dwindling light, players from the very young to the very old are seen plotting their way across this ancient golfing spit.
The rugged 4th is a standout hole, with Chanonry Point Lighthouse a useful target for the dangerous & thrilling approach. What the golfers used for the first 53 years of Fortrose Golf Links , I am not sure. Perhaps they chose a specific bottlenose dolphin, paddling in the Firth…
