I wonder if teachers have any idea of the dedication it takes for a #renal patient to attend an after-school club?
#haemodialysis until 10pm due to jazz band practice πΈ
Maybe it's time to consider #nocturnal #dialysis
Luckily, he's absorbed in a much anticipated new release.
Maybe one year, when he is free from a life that is dependent on #dialysis , this might actually be a possibility.
To all those from the #kidney community that are running TCS London Marathon tomorrow to raise funds for Kidney Research UK & Kidney Care UK thank you, & good luck πββοΈ
Insightful meeting with Global Patient Alliance for Kidney Health learning how to translate my passion into something that has a tangible impact & use to policy makers & health officials.
Patient stories are at the centre of change, our journey is important yet I still feel like the imposter in the room!
Thank you Kidney Research UK for hosting Charlie's doll during the NHS Organ Donationππ«π« #waitingtolive campaign.
After a bit of time with our family Charlie the doll will be looking for his forever home, hopefully in a hospital setting supporting children with medical procedures π
π’that people assume we canβt be bothered be a living donor to Charlie. I can't put into words howπit is to watch helplessly as his health declines because we were declined as donors. We donβt need judgement.
πdonβt hate until you know the facts. πdonβt send hurtful messages.
Tonight I light not one, but three candles.
One for those living in the hope of a life away from #dialysis
One for those who have received the #GiftOfLife
and one for all those living with grief due to #kidneydisease

I am very grateful for every month, every day and every hour that #dialysis has kept me alive.

I try very hard to be positive but here of a few of the things that make me sad about #kidneydisease #renalfailure
I'm not being self pitiful, just honest.

Would you know how to calculate the fluid in a portion of curry, pie or casserole allowing for evaporation? What about the fluid in a piece of fruit or an ice cream?
Liquid medication counts as my allowance too.

Research & prompt medical interventions mean that, so far, I have been able to receive treatment for all the #kidneydisease associated conditions that I have been diagnosed with.

I suppose we are all a statistic on a list somewhere. I'd prefer not to be on a statistic on a list waiting for a #transplant
The organ with the biggest waiting list is #kidneys
Have you registered your #organdonation wishes

Dialysis is not a cure for #renalfailure it keeps the patient alive until they receive a #transplant
#dialysis often leaves me exhausted, it's hard to explain how this actually feels; my body can't do what my brain wants it to do.

Because the symptoms of #kidneydisease can be very subtle to start with, like me, a lot of people learn to live with how they feel because they think it is normal.

Even when, as in my case, a transplant is inevitable, lifestyle changes are essential. People without a #kidneydisease diagnosis can benefit from making changes too, prevention is better than cure!
