#EarthDay 🌎 may be behind us, but #SimcoeCounty is #buildingup our environment for a greener future!! As part of our mission to plant 23,100🌲in 2024 thanks to Forests Ontario's support, on April 22 our Forestry team joined Martin Tree Service, planting 1,300 trees & shrubs!
It's a tree-t to have #ONEnvirothon competitions during #EarthWeek ! This week, students will be competing in Toronto, Grand River & Southwestern regions. We're wishing them all good luck as they plant their seeds of knowledge & immerse themselves in hands-on learning & discovery!

Recently, Forests Ontario & County of Renfrew took Fellowes High School (@RCDSB) Grade 9 students on an SFM tour of Petawawa Research Forest & Shaw Lumber. They learned about sustainable forestry, silviculture techniques & wood as a sustainable material. Thanks for a great day!

Yesterday, students were fully engaged & ready to branch out their knowledge at the #ONEnvirothon Toronto workshop at Parc Downsview Park! They spent the day learning about core topics like forestry, soils, aquatic ecosystems & wildlife in preparation for the regional competition.
Our Restoration Programs Manager, Nick Courtney, attended the Grey Bruce Woodlands Association’s AGM on Saturday alongside 90+ members and some of our planting partners including Saugeen Conservation & Grey Sauble CA. There were informative presentations about woodlot management & much more.
Our #ONEnvirothon season is in full swing! Workshops are taking place this week for the Grand River, Southwestern, and Toronto regions. We wish all participants the best as they prepare for their regional competition days in just two weeks' time. Good luck and have fun!
Our CEO, Jess Kaknevicius, attended today's prescribed burn at High Park. Organized by City of Toronto, Indigenous Land Stewardship Circle & @landsandforests, it beautifully weaved Indigenous cultural ceremony & western science to support regeneration & connect with the earth.
