Cold water shock causes involuntary bodily reflexes, making it difficult for even experienced swimmers to exit the water. If you enter the water unexpectedly, remember the advice from the RNLI and Float to Live. If somebody is in trouble, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard

Please mark your water sports equipment with your contact details! Various items often wash up on shore without any contact information. If we find washed up equipment, we just want to get in touch with the owner to ensure everything is okay. #WaterSports #WaterSafety

Did you know that rip currents can move faster than Olympic swimmers at 5.5 mph 😲 Remember: stay calm, signal for help, swim parallel to shore or float. Don't try to swim against it - you'll get tired. Spot someone in trouble? Call 999 or 112. #WaterSafety #FloatToLive #RNLI

Submerged hazards such as sharp rocks and shallow waters make tombstoning incredibly dangerous. Don't take the risk. Try coasteering with a registered provider instead. In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. #Tombstoning #CliffJumping #WaterSafety

They might look like fun, but people (including children) often run into trouble on West Shore on inflatable toys. In offshore winds or a fast moving tide it takes no time to be washed far out to sea. If you see anyone in trouble call 999 immediately and ask for the Coastguard.
