On this day 95 years ago, Charles Lindbergh flew into Kansas City to dedicate now-called Kansas City Wheeler Downtown Airport. He praised #KC, saying the city had an opportunity to build one of the best airports in the country due to airport’s proximity to the business district.

The Kansas City Aviation Department is saddened that former Mayor Charles B. Wheeler has passed away. Kansas City Downtown Airport was rededicated as Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport on the airport’s 75th anniversary in August 2002. He will be missed, but his name lives on.
