Hiya #SundayFishSketch community! I officially start my professorship on Monday and cannot wait to teach and have a bit more consistency in my life. Let's sketch "schooling" fish for our #FishyTheme in honor of the new school year! #sciart

🚨BIG FISH ALERT🚨 We caught our longest and 2nd heaviest #LakeSturgeon in the history of our stations #sturgeon survey work (dates back to 1996)! Length was 75.2 inches and weight was 125 pounds! After being measured and tagged the fish was released back into #LakeStClair.

BLUE SUCKER!!! This was a bucket list fish for me for over 10 years, and GarLab Team got two during fieldwork this week! Excited that our crew got to see this unique native fish, with the body shape of a shark and face of a muppet! *safely released!

Been really lax on art the last year. Figured a good way to get back into it would be to participate in @nebraskawildlifeeducation ‘s Nebraska Inktober challenge. The first prompt being: Moth! Luna moths are a native species to Nebraska.

I got to chat “dinosaur fish” with +300 elementary school kids on a recent trip to Maine! I had fun sharing about how I got interested in gars, what fish can tell us about the environment, and how I became a scientist. These kindergarten-5th graders had great questions!

This weekend's #SundayFishSketch #FishyTheme is associated with Nebraska Wildlife Education's #Inktober themes. Their word for Sunday is 'Mimicry,' which I think is great! There are many fishes that mimic other fish or other things! #sciart

This week we catch up with Rene Martin Dr. Rene P. Martin and hear what she has been up to in the last 5.5 years (whoa, we're getting old). We chat about wrapping up at Kansas, a post doc at AMNH, #SundayFishSketch, and a new gig as professor at the University of Nebraska.
