2020 is the worse bleaching year for corals around Taiwan water. Seawater temperature was observed on 31C at 30 meter in the Green Island. Extensive bleached Acroporid were observed across all the depths.

This cute chimaera stopped to say hello to ROV Deep Discoverer during a dive off FL coast, giving us a good view of the lateral lines running across its head that allow it to detect pressure waves (like our ears). Hey little, buddy!

Great collaboration with Vanson Liu and Michelle R. Gaither to get 8 @csumbcos undergrads involved in primary research. Each worked up a species for a capstone research class, and we found that Dongsha was a key regional stepping-stone connecting reefs in the South China Sea!
