The upcoming report will help build a picture of the impacts of the 2022-23 summer. But it won't tell us how the Reef fared in 2024 after it's fifth mass bleaching. We'll have to wait another year for that...

So how's the Reef doing after it's "summer of hell?" Well we won't know that until next year, despite Australian Institute of Marine Science releasing their annual coral monitoring report today. marineconservation.org.au/great-barrier-…

What do a flying fox, great-billed heron and mangrove jack have in common? They all live in wetlands! 2 out of 5 animals worldwide live or breed in wetlands! That’s nearly half of all species. Many more depend on wetlands for food and shelter.

The outlook for the Reef had been deemed “very poor” even before the summer from hell, according to the biggest report on the Reef’s health issued every 5 years by the GBR Marine Park Authority late last week. Read our release: bit.ly/3Z1Ikcq

The government's handling of such a significant report is extremely disappointing. That it has found the outlook for our Reef is ‘very poor’ must be a call to arms, and it should be shared widely with the Australian public. bit.ly/3WZcydz

Restoring wetlands in 5% of land at the edge of sugarcane farms can slash nitrogen pollution by up to half! Add your name to an email to the Environment Minister, highlighting how wetland restoration can boost the health of our Reef: bit.ly/471oOil

The government has thrown our Reef a lifeline - $192 mill to reduce water pollution. Wetland restoration needs to be part of this strategy. Tell the Environment Minister that you support wetland restoration to boost the health of our Reef. marineconservation.org.au/actions/affect…
