8/ One didn't have to pay an obscene amount of money just to get on a waiting list to pay even more money to line the pockets of billionaire owners. A balanced life of work, paying the bills, saving money and attending a football game was possible for folks of even modest means.

9/ It was feasible because thanks to the New Deal, a more progressive tax structure and a society bending the arc of history toward justice. Yes, it was imperfect. Nonetheless, America had been on an evolving journey to balance community needs, individual freedom and shared risk.

10/ At the heart of all our political noise today, propaganda, insipid screeching assclowns and even violence on the far right is an ongoing fight on how to balance a community's well being, individual freedom and who carries the burdens of risk.

11/ @potus is an enemy to corrupt oligarchs such as the Koch Network who want folks like my Dad and I attended football games with to assume all risk as they enjoy nearly all rewards. Perversely, these billionaires use the word 'freedom' as a smokescreen to support fascism.

12/ So this crowd of oligarchs, plutocrats & GOP careerist apparatchiks have for decades strove to divide the sort of white working class stiffs we attended football games with from black folks who also sat in the same section and participated in our pre-game tailgating parties.

13/ Upshot is whereas worker friendly POTUS Joe Biden champions investments to facilitate community well being, social mobility and broad based prosperity, the Elon Musks of the world prefer a zero sum game society of a heads they win, tails we lose America.

14/ So much the better if they can persuade white working class folks that any minority earning a living wage or climbing the social mobility ladder is coming at their expense. Essentially it's 'let's lock up those people and make you feel superior about it as we steal your $$$.'

15/ Prior to the Civil War it was plantation owners that lived well as white overseers cracked whips on black slaves. Post Civil War, courtesy of Jim Crow and the prison industrial complex, crony capitalists benefitted from black slave labor that lowered wages for everyone else.

16/ Yes folks, 'Law & Order' politics was always a ponzi scheme that convinced white working class folks to support mass incarceration of people of color as the old white men country club rich profited and paid less in taxes.

18/ Across the political spectrum today from right to left there is a shared sense the game is rigged. If you're pinching pennies, working three jobs with no time for fun, you don't have time to sort through all the noise about why it's rigged. But you feel it in your guts.
