What I have learned: unless you are legitimately in the battle for #1, the rankings are not for you! They are for other people to see and have a goal, and for spectators. Even just chasing your name can cause someone to push themselves beyond what they thought they could do!

If you are ranked too high, you will get exposed...hype for everyone else! If you are ranked too low, you will make upsets and cause discussion...also hype for everyone else! If seeing your name too low brings you psychic pain, that is probably why you got good to begin with.

Competition is pain. Its a rush. A wonderful experience. But it really is pain. People will question your skill, you will have tough losses that people talk about for years. Your bad moments will be viewed as evidence for people's biases, your good moments will be ignored!

You will be judged and viewed and booed and cheered for and hated and loved and EVERYTHING because we're all here together in a beautiful dance for domination and its INTENSE and EMOTIONAL and FUN and PAINFUL and all we need is to embrace it all to defeat the fear in our hearts
