Infant Feeding Alliance Vets and vet nurses would rightly be reported to their professional bodies and regulators for failing to feed appropriately. But human offspring can starve?

Dr Katie Cairns Dr Jasmeet B Infant Feeding Alliance Stephanie deGiorgio And if you are hypothyroid, the milk does not come in as you are unable to produce the hormone required to lactate. But the midwives label you lazy. Yes , really 🙄

Vets and farmers know something that health professionals responsible for human babies have decided not to know or care about because they've decided venerating breastfeeding and hating the formula industry are more important than actually feeding babies

“…it’s time we recognised these repeated tragedies are not one-off unfortunate events, but rather a consequence of a systemic problem at the very heart of our maternity system.” hsj.co.uk/patient-safety…

Graham Smith Mina Dr Ruth Ann Harpur Bad faith and nasty. Before I go, I'll just remind you that Dr Christie wanted the best for her baby by following healthcare advice to ebf. She wanted that so much that she persisted. She followed doctors' advice but they (and breastfeeding) failed. This is not on mothers.

Dr Jasmeet B Infant Feeding Alliance Stephanie deGiorgio Sometimes the milk only comes in after a few days. Most cultures where breastfeeding is the norm recognise this and pre lacteal feeds existed as a concept long before formula.

I’m so sorry current infant feeding policy is so divorced from common sense, history and compassion.

Normal birth, breastfeeding as 'the biological norm'... all cut from the same cloth and harming women and babies daily

Victoria I'm so sorry, Victoria.

We're not alone. Newborn readmissions for feeding complications & jaundice have been increasing since the early 00s. And of course, so many more bad experiences are not captured in those numbers. And then there are the stories like Dr Castillo-Hegyi's...

Infant Feeding Alliance Stephanie deGiorgio I was told by a midwife ' women like you are what is wrong with our society ' when I asked for a bottle for my baby as I wasn't expressing any milk. I fed my two for 24 months each , when the milk came, but after a jaundiced , ill baby was admitted to intensive care ,starving

IFA exists because of stories like this...

The banal cruelty of allowing babies to go hungry, sometimes with devastating consequences is a feature of current infant feeding policy.

We are forever grateful to Dr Christie for helping us understand what happened to us & our babies

Not a single intervention with demonstrable efficacy in preventing or resolving common breastfeeding problems

Tell us again why we need more 'breastfeeding support'. Actually - what actually even is 'breastfeeding support'?

Also .. the many advantages of breastfeeding should never be underestimated alongside the potential risks of a baby receiving ARTIFICIAL milk...

Cocaine?

Dr Ruth Ann Harpur Yes. I remember taking her to a clinic and them noting the weight loss. And I’d had a c-section and other reasons to be a prime candidate for low supply. Yet they didn’t suggest giving up the endless failing feeds. It was eerie. Hello?
