Humanitarian workers must be allowed to reach people in urgent need across Sudan. Civilians must never be targeted. Aid convoys must never be blocked. Respect for international humanitarian law is an obligation, not an option.

After escaping brutal fighting, families in Sudan are now running out of time. Children are hungry, parents are desperate, and communities are cut off from aid. They need protection, safety and humanitarian access. Now, not later.

10 million people — mostly women and children — have fled their homes in Sudan. Unbearable violence has taken too much, for too long. They need peace — once and for all! Amy Pope is in Sudan. Check for updates👇🏽

Thousands have fled escalating violence in El Fasher, Sudan. Many families arrive in Tawila sick, malnourished and deeply traumatized. UNHCR is on the ground, providing life-saving support—but humanitarian access must be guaranteed.

“I’ve rarely encountered a situation as devastating as what is unfolding in Sudan.” Amid one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises, UN Human Rights continues working on the ground to safeguard human rights. The violence must stop. Civilians must be protected.

I came to Sudan to listen. At Al Afad camp, I met families who fled Al Fasher. A mother who lost her husband and children. Girls just nine years old now displaced and traumatized. 30M people need aid. 10M are displaced. Sudan’s crisis is deepening. The world must not look away.

Arrived in El Geneina. Spending next few days in Darfur to listen to communities who have fled horrific violence and to understand how the world can do better.

🚨A protection crisis is escalating fast in Sudan’s Darfur and Kordofan regions. UNHCR warns thousands are fleeing violence—many for the second or third time—as conditions on the ground deteriorate rapidly.

Unspeakable suffering in Tawila. Over half of the fleeing survivors are children. One injured woman I met walked into the camp after surviving an attack, carrying her friend's starving child. They're asking the world if help is coming. wapo.st/47HBZa7

I spent yesterday in Korma with survivors of El Fasher atrocities. So many halting, harrowing conversations in Arabic, or translated from Zaghawa, about horror and misery. Then Haseena pushed through crowd. Speaking in perfect English, she wanted the world to hear her story.

Sudan’s conflict continues to uproot lives. In Darfur, families are fleeing daily amid deadly clashes. UNHCR is delivering emergency aid in Tawila—cash, shelter, psychosocial support. But the scale of the crisis is growing. Urgent support is needed.

Thanks Tom Fletcher for going to Tawila and meeting the victims of the Al Fasher atrocities. It is a pity UN member states did not do more to support our humanitarian and protection efforts in Darfur the last two years nor acted on our warnings that there was a relentless

A big win for Sudan today against EQG #EQGSDN #AFCON2025 . I watched joyful fans at the stadium with happy tears. I hope those joyful smiles will be more common all over #Sudan and that this war ends.
