About to refill the hay rack & spotted 3 lodgers 🐥🐥🐥 Been putting hay in there for 4 days 🫣 Now decamped the calves until they’ve fledged Not sure what they are, didn’t want to get too close & frighten them. I’m thinking robin or blackbird, others may know better #farming

Blimey O'Riley Swans galore. 41 in total 15 in the photo and 26 in the video. Only problem is they're grazing my spring barley. I've never seen so many on the farm ever. 🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢 😍

This #lapwingplot may not have any #Lapwing, but it's fantastic for an entirely different reason: having cultivated the plot in late November last year has turned it into a purple sea of #commonfumitory, taking arable flora conservation to another level. #skylark also love it.

This fabulous 3-ha wildlife plot on a farm in South Yorkshire consists of several stages of the advanced #PARTRIDGEmix @Oakbank. The diversity of #farmlandbirds nesting in it right now is amazing, including sedge warbler, whitethroat, reed bunting, #greypartridge and skylark.

Great to be up the ladder again this Friday and actually see some healthy #kestrel chicks. It's a very bad year for them this year, owing to the rodent cycle being rock bottom. Also, I'm yet to located a barn owl brood in my patch.

80 Swifts feeding over fields of rape at Combs, coming & going from nests in town. Shame this crop isn't grown so much now. Another 100 Swifts counted over Combs Ford from hill by Combs Wood. Must have been at least 300 round town this evening

When a Chilterns National Landscape #farmercluster member sends a video over asking what bird is this & it turns out to be a Montagu’s Harrier it’s a bit rude to not share in their excitement (& pride) … what an amazing bird 🎉🎉 Love working with knowledgable & enthused farmers …

Our annual explosion of Large Whites seems greater than ever - vid just can’t do them justice. Every field is similar but these organic spring oats for Organic Arable and White's Oats seem the favourite (might be something to do with the wild radish understory) #organic

This is an #advancedPARTRIDGEmix. I developed it together with Oakbank Game. This is how it looks now in its 6th year (right) on a chalk cap, & on heavy soil (left) with a #beetlebank running through it. It will last many more years and is even better than in my wildest dreams.
