A field corner, with a plain straight ditch, can be so much more… Enter a farmer, with a digger and an obsession for helping all things nature 🤓 This is gonna be cool to see it change and become home for so many things💚 *thanks Ullswater Catchment Management CIC for inspo and Gail Caddy for 🎥

How do you read a hedgerow? What can it tell you about past management? How can that help know what to do next? This hedge has gaps, gap planting, old pleachers, signs of a significant reshape and some whips doing their damndest to survive!

10 yrs ago this soil was pretty hard to farm. Wet all winter, rock hard in summer. Very poor establishment. 10 yrs of a Conservation Ag strategy have changed that. 2-3 inches of carbon-rich soil now exist when before it was all the colour of the mineral below, and we have a crop!
