Earlier this year, in January, I traveled with a team of conflict researchers from John Hopkins University to explore the impact of the Boko Haram conflict on women entrepreneurs in Lake Chad Basin communities. Here's the link to my special report: wikkitimes.com/women-entrepre…

We should stop the practice of police barracks it's a legacy of colonialism and military dictatorship. Police officers should have allowances that allow them to live in communities

An adult slapped a child for revenge, you support it.
A young lady stoned to death & razed in a fire, you supported it.
Young boys beaten, squeezed into tires & set ablaze, you supported it.

Is there a brand of violence you don’t support ? These are all dimensions of jungle justice

Trendy Rnb Nig Again. If violence is your first response to anything, when you can’t control your rage then you are also a problem. Don’t expect children to act right when adults can’t even control their urge to descend to violence.

. when we say kids pick up their conflict resolution skills from the adults around them, this is what it means. The adults in the room should do better.

In all of this, do not forget you’re dealing with children. The most vulnerable and delicate members of society. They need to grow up in a better environment than we did and for that to happen we have to civilise ourselves. Many of you are not showcasing civility, introspect.

Whoever that woman is, I really hope she is dealt with by the courts. But she won’t and that’s exactly the kind of society that fosters violence. Everyone believes they have the right to lay their hands on another person; from children to adults.

Emotions are high but if people don’t see the issue with high-handed punishment on a child then it’s a problem on its own. Expel and provide corrective discipline for the girl but the videos I’ve seen are just reinforcing abuse.

seeing that disgusting bully video and also the ridiculous comments of people ganging up to go beat and slap the bully (+/- her family ) were disturbing. the cycle of violence leads not to any peaceful resolution or correction - these are children

. From most of the responses it’s clear the average Nigerian can’t understand that abuse begets abuse. They are happy the bully was slapped but won’t understand that the bully likely learnt to throw hands from the culture of abuse that thrives in the country. It’s a maddening cycle

A grown adult cannot show restraint & results to slapping a minor, meanwhile there’s an expectation that children should deal without emotions without resulting to violence when adults cannot deal with emotions without resulting to violence. Do you see how egregious that sounds ?
