It is understood by Fair Seas that no resources have yet been allocated to manage or monitor Páirc Náisiúnta na Mara, Ciarraí.

Government must publish the Marine Protected Areas bill so protected sites are properly resourced & nature recovers.

I'm so proud today to officially announce, with Minister Darragh O'Brien, Ireland's eighth and largest national park: Páirc Náisiúnta na Mara, Ciarraí. With the Conor Pass as its gateway, our first marine national park will see this iconic place protected for future generations.

What better way to mark #Earthday than to be at the launch of Ireland’s first National Marine Park in #Dingle , Kerry.

No new protected area designations have been made but we hope that community engagement & good management plans follow for this unique region.

It’s been an inspiring few days at @ourocean2024 with huge announcements made by many countries to protect 🌊🌎

It was disappointing not to see any Irish ministers in attendance at this critical point in time for marine conservation as we move towards 2030.
