Angelenos deserve better representation. We're organizing for City Council expansion and a truly independent redistricting process.

LAPD and policing have been pretty hot topics at the Charter Reform Commission and it's finally back on the agenda this Thursday (4 pm). The ad hoc committee tossed out the reform proposals, but there seems to be space on the agenda to bring some ideas back.

👀 Woah ... as Controller Kenneth Mejia spoke to the Charter Reform Commission, that panel was getting FLOODED with what I'd say is a record number of written comments telling them to leave the Controller's Office alone, making up most of the 1,200 pages. drive.google.com/drive/folders/…

This is a big step for ranked choice voting in our nation’s second-largest city. In a city as diverse as Los Angeles, #RankedChoiceVoting is well-suited to make sure every community has a real voice. Huge thanks to California Ranked Choice Voting Coalition & More Equitable Democracy for their leadership in LA!

A comprehensive package of proposals -- complete with red lines of charter language -- produced by a Neighborhood Council committee is getting taken up today, after the ad hoc committee disposed of them. It's generated a lot of anger among NCs, and they've activated in response.

A motion by Commissioner Carla Fuentes just posted, related to the proposal to move the city to a two-year budget cycle. Here's the motion: drive.google.com/file/d/12EIURU…
