Amazing to find this burnet moth (Zygaena transalpina) enjoying sunshine and plenty of scabious flowers in the Swiss Alps! I've counted more than 60 individuals in less than 200m, which definitely made the steep climb worth it!

If you have late-blooming flowers in your garden, don't forget to check for any #moths feeding at night, to help investigate nocturnal #pollination ! We're still seeing moths on ragwort, devil's bit scabious and exotic plants on our beautiful campus University of Exeter, Cornwall University of Exeter CEC

Great day in Tynemouth exploring the rockpools and local birds. Redshanks, Oystercatchers, Ringed plovers, anemones and (Whooper?) swans made for a great day out!

Manx Shearwater chick EM82816 was last seen on 26th August, its wing about 10mm short of fledging length. It was found exhausted on a Brazilian beach on 8th October, 43 days later. So 216km a day and in reality a lot more than that

Exciting news! The Wildlife Trusts have today completed the purchase of part of Rothbury Estate in Northumberland in partnership with Northumberland Wildlife Trust including the Simonside Hills. It's home to rare wildlife including curlew and red squirrel. (1/2) 📷 Duncan Hutt

We find that even short pulses of light impact moth flight behaviour! Particularly when the lights are blue/white like those blinding modern car headlights 🚗💡 Very exciting to see my first ever paper published! Check it out doi.org/10.1098/rsbl.2…!
