Looks like spring (Mar-May) of 2021 goes down as 12th driest (5.05 inches) in Madison, WI since records started in 1869. Last time we had a drier spring was 1994. For comparison during the last two significant droughts - spring 1988 had 4.77 inches and 2012 had 8.65 inches.

Getting this new custom built Harvest International with Precision Planting planter all dialed in to hit #plant2021 this weekend

For corn to emerge within 10 days after planting (a good goal), it requires an AVERAGE DAILY SOIL TEMP. of about 61-62F (equals 11-12 GDD / day if soils don't drop below 50F at night). Soil temps are not there yet & the short term weather forecast is not gonna help. Be cautious!
