Don't want to miss a thing? Watch the final moments from the #DARTMission on its collision course with asteroid Dimporphos.

Okay, here's my first quick-and-dirty animation of the #DARTmission DRACO images I screengrabbed from the broadcast, aligned on Dimorphos. I watermarked it because it is not a great product, but it is a product that exists. Better to come.

Kermit (#NOAA42) just landed in Texas from our flight to Hurricane #Ian this morning. This was from our second pass through the eye, a healthy 20 miles in diameter. Clouds were already starting to clear out above. Follow National Hurricane Center and NOAA Aircraft Operations Center for official updates.

When I say this was the roughest flight of my career so far, I mean it. I have never seen the bunks come out like that. There was coffee everywhere. I have never felt such lateral motion. Aboard Kermit (#NOAA42) this morning into Hurricane #Ian. Please stay safe out there.

This is a wild, hopeful story: grad students at Northeastern U. successfully pushed back against digital workplace surveillance, through fearless solidarity and the bright light of publicity. It's a tale of hand-to-hand, victorious combat with the #ShittyTechnologyAdoptionCurve. 1/

The IEEE Control Systems Magazine is featuring this month our tutorial on convex optimization for trajectory generation -- joint work with Behçet Açıkmeşe UW Aero & Astro. We discuss many applications, including rocket landing. Pre-print here (with code!): arxiv.org/pdf/2106.09125…

35 years ago last night, my mother, brother and I landed at JFK on a long Lufthansa flight. My father had gone ahead of us; our mom didn't know if we had utensils at our new home, so she asked our flight attendant if we could keep the cutlery. She quietly said yes.

Rocket Lab will power the next generation of robotic space explorers. We’re thrilled to confirm our IMM solar cells were selected for NASA’s CADRE robots that will explore the Moon’s most hard-to-reach places & communicate never-before-seen data to Earth. bwnews.pr/3D05RPO

This is my last month at JPL. I resigned in October after deciding to leave this summer due to feeling completely unsupported as a disabled postdoc. My supervisors were wonderful, my colleagues amazing, but this wasn’t enough. 🧵 #DisabledAndSTEM

And so NASA JPL has made the choice to not retain people like me. I’m not just a number. JPL is losing a talented, emerging scientist. So be it. ✌🏾
